Pegasus Hobbies Terrain Kit Unboxing

Well I guess I don't need to say much. Unboxing of Chemical plant and Large Platformer sets from Pegasus Hobbies. Also a quick Showcase of homemade terrain I've been working  on. If you like the shirt I'm wearing in the video they are only $11 and the profits go to Lancashire Gaming leave a comment below if you would like one.

foam core terrain

Spent most of yesterday making some more terrain for the upcoming 40k day.

I made the sand bags out a material called paper clay and used the back of a piece of hardboard to give it some texture. The floor is a tiled plastic sheet that I bought at a local hobby shop, you might be able to find it at a craft store too. I want to add rubble in between the pieces of the floor, and do something for the outer base.

The railing and ladders are made from 1/2" wire mesh that I bought at a Hardware store for 10 bucks, and I still have more than I think I will ever need.

Power Generator Terrain WIP

Moros asked me to make a power generator for the upcoming campaign at Lancashire Gaming. The Piece is about 8" by 8" and I need to add some little bits on the sides and I'm not sure if I'm 100 percent happy with the way the door looks.

I'm debating whether or not I should base it because it will be used in multiple games / game types.   Suggestions for Improvement in the comments please.

Terrain From Hirst Arts Molds

I've been thinking about purchasing some Hirst Arts Molds to cast plaster in and wanted to get a feel for what the club thinks about them. I look at a lot of terrain online for inspiration and now that I have a sizable portion of my army finished I think it's prudent to think about making some epic level terrain. Most of the really good looking terrain I find, specifically city terrain, uses either Pegasus hobbies kits, Games-Workshop kits, Hirst arts castings, or any combination of the three. One of my Favorite game boards on Dakka Dakka that uses Pegasus Hobbies kits, Cities of Death Kits, and Hirst Arts Molds.

The analogy I've heard describing Hirst Arts molds is that you create little Legos out of plaster and create buildings out of them. Many of the molds can be used in the Warhammer 40k or fantasy setting and detailed project plans are available free from Hirst Arts. The Problem is the things are so darn expensive, one mold can range from $29 - $34 most being the $34. A nice thing about these molds is that supposedly they can be used Hundreds of times before you run into very much wear. As always I would be happy to let anyone use these molds with the promise they will treat them gently and return them to me in a timely manner. So club members what do you think, would you use some molds if they were available to use? Personally I was thinking of purchasing the bell tower and the basic brick mold (#40) which would run me about $70 plus the cost of plaster. As you can see it's a big investment and if they aren't going to get much use I don't know how I feel about buying them. Comment Please.

Terrain!!!

I spent the better part of the day working on some terrain for the club hope you all enjoy it. If its requested I can do a post on how I made each piece but for now I'll just put up the pics. Please excuse the poor quality of the pictures I had to take them with my webcam :P.

First we have the hill/plateau piece this one took most of today but I'm really happy with it.

The idea behind this piece was to make something that we could place smaller modular pieces onto but still have a concrete base. There is one slanted entrance onto it and the smaller part on the top has an entrance too. The Entire thing is made out of expanded poly styrene insulation.

the second piece isn't quite done yet. It still needs to be painted, right now all it has is a base coat. I know its hard to tell but the bent thing on top is supposed to be barbed wire. I made three lengths the same size and have the materials to make a lot more.

Hope you all enjoyed. I can't wait to use this stuff in a game.
